Ampleforth Children's Choir

also known as...
Ampleforth Hummingbirds

Mission Statement

The purpose of the choir is to offer children in the Ampleforth area the opportunity to develop a love of singing. To this end the choir meets regularly on Saturday mornings during term time. The staff, members of the Ampleforth music department and the North Yorkshire Music Services, introduce the children to a range of styles - secular, sacred, popular, folk; help is also given with vocal production and reading skills. Taster days are arranged whereby primary school teachers who wish to develop their own skills, seek fresh ideas and share their own expertise, are invited to observe rehearsals and discuss all aspects of children's singing. Regular performances to stimulate the children's interest are a feature of the project.

N.B. Although the choir was originally set up for children in years 2-6, we are now in a position to extend the age range both to older and younger children. A group for children in Reception and Year 1 is now up and running, and we are considering provision for older children. Please contact us if you have a child in Year 7 or Year 8 who would like to sing in the choir.
