Musical in a morning

Every so often the choir rehearses and performs a musical in a morning. As well as the regular members of the choir, children who like singing but cannot make a regular commitment are invited to participate just for that one morning. If you would like to be informed when the next musical in a morning is planned, please contact us and we will put your name on the mailing list.

First Kids in Space 2010 - To see our poster for more information about this year's musical, please click on the picture to the left. (Poster will open as a pdf file in a new window.)

Sound of Music 2009 - Nearly 90 children participated in our performance of The Sound of Music in February. Various children had the opportunity to play the parts of nuns, the children and the Captain.

Oliver!Oliver 2007 - In November 2007 the choir joined other local primary school children who have been involved in Ampleforth's choral outreach project to put on a performance of the musical Oliver!  Around 80 children took part. The singing morning began with some warm-ups and singing games, then the children were split into groups to learn the songs. After a well-deserved break, parents and friends arrived to watch the performance. The story was narrated by Jack Murphy, an English teacher at Ampleforth College, who took on the various roles of Oliver, the Artful Dodger and Fagin as he was telling the story.

In November 2006, before the Children's Choir was even established, around 70 children from the local community came to the Blackden Building at St Martin's Ampleforth to rehearse and perform Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with two boys from Ampleforth College taking the parts of Joseph and the Narrator.
